7 Facial Winter Scrubs You Must Try

For you, winter may be about fluffy sweaters and cozy scarves, but it’s a nightmare for your skin. The face, in particular, bears the brunt. Chapping, cracking skin, dullness and an absolute lack of moisture are, unfortunately, common. We bring our pick of 7 winter scrubs that will rehydrate and keep your skin baby-soft all season long!

1. Nutty Scrub

Ideal for normal to oily skin, this face scrub can be conjured up in a pinch! Crush half a cup each of almonds, aniseed, methi seeds, flaxseed, walnut, and sesame seeds into a fine paste.

Usage: Mix with mildly lukewarm water or rosewater, apply to face, and leave on for 2 minutes before scrubbing off with lukewarm water.

2. Almond-Cornmeal Scrub

Perfect for very dry skin. Mix half a cup each of roughly grounded almonds, cornmeal, sugar, jojoba and coconut oil with a tablespoon of honey, add 6 drops each of lavender oil and carrot juice.

Usage: Scrub gently in a circular motion for 5-7 minutes. Pour hot water on the skin if the mixture dries up during usage. Pat dry after washing off, and use a moisturizer after that.

3. Avocado and Olive Oil scrub

This one revitalizes skin with its rich Vit E content. De-seed a ripe avocado and mash it to a fine paste. Add a tbsp of olive oil.

Usage: Apply the paste evenly to the face. Let dry for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with cool water.

4. Oatmeal mask

For glowing soft, glowing skin, mix ½ spoon each of oatmeal, milk and water, and let it soak.

Usage: Apply gently to the face, leave for 15 minutes and wash off with cold water.

5. Cocoa mask

Oily skin faces peculiar issues during winter, especially with an oily T-Zone. To counter this, mix ½ tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp each of besan and honey, and 2 tbsp of coconut milk.

Usage: Apply the paste gently to the face and wash after a few minutes.

6. Banana-coconut oil mask

This unusual face mask is ideal for a gamut of skin problems in the winter! Mash up a banana with a spoonful of coconut oil, and mix well.

Usage: Apply all over the face, and massage well. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash with cold water.

7. Refreshing Orange Scrub

The zesty fragrance of this scrub rejuvenates the senses, while the citrusy goodness is a wonderful treat for dry skin. Mix 1/4th part of orange juice with 2 spoons of cornmeal to form a paste.

Usage: Wash face and scrub gently and wash off after 3 minutes. Follow up with a mild moisturizer.
